How to download a Serial transcript

No app, no extension, no Apple ID.

01

Pick an episode

Choose a Serial episode from the list, or paste its Apple Podcasts link into the box above.

02

Paste and fetch

PodText reads the transcript Apple published for that episode, with its timestamps and speaker turns intact.

03

Search, copy, download

Jump between keyword hits, copy an exact quote with its timestamp, or download TXT, Markdown, SRT, VTT or PDF.

The transcript Apple wrote, outside the Podcasts app.

Apple’s own transcript, not a guess

Apple already publishes a timed transcript for most episodes. PodText fetches that file instead of running the audio through a speech model, so names and wording match what the show published.

Seconds, even for a three-hour episode

There is no upload and no transcription queue. The text track is already there, so a long interview opens about as fast as a short one.

Every format you need

Copy the whole thing, or download it as plain text, Markdown for Notion and Obsidian, SRT or VTT subtitles, or a clean PDF. No account, no watermark.

Questions

Does Serial have transcripts?

Yes. Apple publishes a transcript for Serial episodes, usually within a day or two of release. PodText reads that transcript, so what you get is the same text the Podcasts app shows.

How do I download a Serial transcript?

Open the episode here, then use Download to save it as plain text, Markdown, SRT or VTT subtitles, or a PDF. Copy puts the whole transcript on your clipboard.

Can I find a quote from an episode?

Open the episode and type a word or phrase into the search box. PodText highlights every hit and jumps between them, and each paragraph shows the timestamp where it starts.

Is this an official transcript?

It is the transcript Apple generates and publishes for the episode. PodText is not affiliated with Serial or Apple, and the words belong to the show.
