Download an Apple Podcasts transcript as PDF, SRT or text
Once a transcript is open in PodText, the Download menu saves it in five formats. Each one suits a different job.
- Copy the episode link in Apple Podcasts: Share → Copy Link.
- Paste it into PodText and press Get transcript.
- Open the Download menu above the transcript and pick a format.
Which format to choose
Plain text (.txt)
The simplest option. Opens anywhere, and is the best thing to paste into ChatGPT, Claude or another AI tool for a summary.
Markdown (.md)
Keeps the title, show, date and speaker labels as headings and bold text. Drops neatly into Notion, Obsidian, Bear or a GitHub README.
Opens your browser’s print dialog with a clean, print-ready layout. Choose Save as PDF to keep a file, or print it to annotate on paper.
SRT subtitles (.srt)
Timed captions that video editors understand: Premiere Pro, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut. Useful for turning a podcast clip into a captioned video.
WebVTT (.vtt)
The subtitle format for web players and HTML5 video. Same timings as SRT.
Timestamps on or off
The Timestamps switch above the transcript also controls the text, Markdown and copy outputs. Turn it off for clean reading text; keep it on if you want to cite where a quote came from. Subtitle files always keep their timings.
Questions
Is there a limit on episode length?
No. Three-hour episodes download as easily as short ones.
Does the PDF include speaker names?
It includes the speaker turns Apple marks, shown as Speaker 1, Speaker 2. Apple does not record who each speaker is.
Can I edit the transcript before downloading?
Not in PodText. Download the text or Markdown file and edit it in any editor.
