Privacy Policy

1. Overview: Privacy by Architecture

At PodText, privacy is built directly into our architecture. We believe in providing useful public utilities without gathering dossiers on who you are or tracking you across the internet.

You do not need to register, create an account, provide an email address, or log in to use PodText.

2. Information We Process

  • Submitted Media URLs: When you paste an Apple Podcasts or YouTube URL into PodText, that link is transmitted over HTTPS to our edge servers solely to resolve the publicly available caption and transcript tracks. These URLs are not linked to your identity.
  • Transient Caching: To save server resources and prevent redundant network requests, extracted transcripts are cached ephemerally in volatile memory and Cloudflare Edge Cache for up to 24 hours. Once the 24-hour cache TTL expires, the records are purged.
  • Client IP Addresses for Abuse Mitigation: We inspect your IP address in volatile edge memory solely for rate limiting (maximum 15 requests per IP per minute) to defend our servers against denial-of-service and automated bot abuse. IP rate limit records are automatically cleared after 60 seconds and are never persisted to long-term database storage.

3. Cookies and Local Storage

PodText does not use third-party tracking cookies, advertising trackers, or cross-site fingerprinting scripts.

We use modern browser localStorage exclusively to remember your preferred color theme (dark or light) across page visits. You can clear your browser storage at any time to delete this preference.

4. Third-Party Infrastructure Services

To deliver reliable global performance, we partner with reputable infrastructure providers:

  • Cloudflare: Provides CDN caching, DNS resolution, DDoS defense, and secure HTTPS edge routing. Cloudflare may process network traffic metadata according to their global privacy standards.
  • Apple Podcasts & YouTube: Source platforms from which public subtitles and official transcript feeds are retrieved on your behalf.

5. User Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliance)

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or California:

Because PodText collects no personal identifiers, names, emails, or user profiles, we maintain no personal database to inspect or sell. Under CCPA/CPRA, we do not sell or share personal information with third parties. 6. Changes to this Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect operational or legal updates. Any modifications will be posted here along with an updated effective date.
