How to get an Apple Podcasts transcript
No subscription, no Apple ID, and no need to open the Podcasts app on the device you are reading on.
Copy the episode link
In the Podcasts app or on the web, open the episode, choose Share, then Copy Link. The link carries the episode id after ?i=
Paste and fetch

Questions
Where do I find the episode link?
Open the episode in the Podcasts app or at podcasts.apple.com, use Share, then Copy Link. The link should contain the episode id, like podcasts.apple.com/.../id...?i=1000...
Do all episodes have a transcript?
No. Apple generates transcripts for most English, Spanish, French and German episodes published after 2024, plus anything the show uploaded itself. Older or unsupported episodes have no text track to fetch.
Do I need an Apple subscription?
No. PodText needs nothing but the public episode link, and reads the same transcript Apple serves to the Podcasts app.
Are the speakers named?
Apple marks who is speaking but not their names, so turns come through as Speaker 1 and Speaker 2. Solo shows come through as one continuous transcript.
Can I use a Spotify or Overcast link?
Not directly. Find the same episode on Apple Podcasts and use that link, or paste a YouTube link if the show also publishes there.
How accurate is it?
It is Apple’s own transcript, so it is as accurate as what the Podcasts app shows. Technical terms and proper nouns are still worth checking against the audio before you quote them.
